Finding the time to work on your business whilst in the 9-5 can feel difficult but managing your time in the right way is easily do-able when you know how. This post explores exactly that.

Ever had that feeling of time flying by and not making any progress on your goals?
You've wanted to get trraction on your business but in between the family, the day job, the kids, the to do list, its no wonder you're not getting anywhere.
And let's not forget the sleep. All the people talking about their 4.00 a.m. starts, but you need your 8 hours to even function.
Months pass and you're no further along with your biz dreams. You're wondering how you can possibly make progress with the limited time you have?
The great news is with a few tweaks to how you approach time, you can navigate your way out of the day job in no time. Here are a few quick tips to help you change the way you think about time.
1) Reframe how you think about time
Start with monitoring your self talk around time and it's availability. When you are building your biz, it can be easy to think of time as a scarce resource and one which you don't have much of.
That's when phrases like "not enough hours in the day", "times flying by" etc creep in and start taking over. This takes you straight into lack mindset when it comes to your time.
Instead start making your self talk more positive "time is on my side", "I always make time for what's important". "I always make the best use of the time I do have".
Remember your time is a resource that you have just like any other. If you are talking about its lack, you will feel it feel its lack even more.
2) Work in blocks of time.
Instead of trying to do bits and bobs here and there and not getting traction, try to dedicate a set amount of time to your business building activities e.g. 30 minutes a day in one go is better than 3 lots of 10 minutes or 5 minutes for a quick task here and there.
If you are really short of time, be super strategic and focused about the tasks that you do. Identify the highest value tasks in your business - those that will give you the most bang for your buck and focus on those. If you don't know what they are, get some help with this.
Make a list at the end of each session for what you want to achieve out of the next and then just concentrate on THOSE tasks. No chopping and changing. Block out all distractions, social media etc and use the Pomodoro app to help you stay on track.
3) Chunk like tasks together
Its best to tackle all like/similar tasks together to be most effective. For example, I do all my coaching calls on certain days as this ensures that my clients have my full focus.
If you have a number of calls to make, set aside an hour to just make those calls. If you have social media or blog posts to write, allocate a chunk of time to do that writing (whilst you are feeling creative), have a set time aside for admin ( I do mine on Friday).
Tackling like tasks together in this way saves time, keeps you focused and stops you from context switching (jumping from one task to another) which reduces productivity.
4) Be ruthless with the time you do have
There is no doubt about it, in the beginning, there is a lot of legwork involved in building your business. If you are totally new to business then there is a learning curve to navigate and this inevitably takes time.
This is the time to review how you are using your time.
Keep a time diary and identify any time vacuums or time sucks and remove them. For example I was a big football fan and before I started my business i watched several matches a week - at 90-100 minutes per match that was a lot of minutes. I stopped doing this for a while and reallocated that time. I loved football but it was more important for me to change my life and create a business I loved.
Also take a look at any obligations/commitments that are no longer a HELL YESS! Things you do out of obligation or because you feel you "should" or "have to" - both at work and personal.
If they don't serve you and your goals is it time to take a step back? Use this freed up time to spend on your business and to build your dream.
So, whilst it can seem like there are "not enough hours in the day" especially if your day job is taking up a large part of the day, you can use these tips to help you free up some time and get some serious traction on your biz.

Heard a lot about how morning routines can help you with productivity and wellbeing and ready to learn how to create a morning routine that works for you - even if you're not a morning person? This post takes you through creating a morning routine that will set you up for the day.
How to Create a Successful Morning Routine Even When You’re Not a Morning Person
In a recent Livestream for my Free Facebook group, (join here if you are not a member) I spoke about having a morning routine as an entrepreneur (you can watch it in the videos if you haven't seen it already).
But, what do you do if you are not a morning person and it takes you a while to get going in the morning?
Well, in that case, there are a few things that you can incorporate which will help you start each day off on the right foot and create a routine which works for you.
1) Look at your mindset, beliefs and language around whether you are a morning person or not.
Is this based on anything in particular or have you "just never been a morning person" or are you saying things like "I just can't function before 10.00 a.m." then your actions are likely backing up your beliefs.
Instead, try something like "i'm open to getting up a little earlier each day and feeling more energetic when I do." or "my body is powerful and provides me with what I need to wake up energised". This is a big shift in what you are saying to your body and mind and you are giving it the space to show up a little differently for you. Repeat these affirmations until you are cementing them as a new belief.
2) Look at your habits around bedtime
Waking up earlier with more energy doesn't just happen for most people. We have to set ourselves up to succeed in this area. How you show up the next day starts with how you end the previous one. So take a look at your bedtime habits.
Are you getting to sleep at the right time? The average adult needs 8 hours of sleep and the most regenerative sleep happens between the hours of 10.00 pm and 2.00 am. So if you are not getting to sleep until later i.e past midnight then you are missing out on the most regenerative hours.
Start with going to bed 30 minutes earlier and then build up to 1 hour earlier to claim back an hour's worth of sleep time.
Avoid overstimulation when you go to bed, e.g. time spent on your phone, watching tv in the bedroom, drinking caffeine before bedtime etc as these reduce the quality of the sleep you do have.
If you are prone to waking up with aches and pains (common if you are spending long hours at a computer in the day, running around after kids etc) then, take 5-10 minutes to do some stretching exercises before you go to bed to loosen up from the day.
Set your intention for the day tomorrow. INTEND to wake up with more energy. Tell yourself "I always wake up bursting with life and energised." Repeat it to yourself as you nod off to cement this into your subconscious mind which will continue to work overnight.
3) Eliminate the bad morning habits.
If you are a sleep lover like me (omg do I love my sleep!) then that snooze button is the biggest enemy of productivity in the morning. Keep your alarm away from your bed so that you HAVE to get up when the alarm goes off/when you wake up naturally. Movement creates energy and the simple act of getting up to switch your alarm off will kick start this.
Once you are up, MAKE THE BED. This is crucial for two reasons. Firstly, you are less likely to go back into bed if it's made up and secondly, it's the first thing you've completed successfully so counts as your first win of the day. I adopted this after learning it's a military exercise that builds discipline and routine and gives a sense of accomplishment. I sometimes left my bed unmade (naughty I know!) and was sceptical that something so small could do anything but it works and that sense of accomplishment filters through to your work day.
Keep some water by the bed and hydrate first thing in the morning. Doing this helps kick-start your body and rehydrates it from the night before (don't forget it hasn't had any fluids for around 8 hours so will welcome the drink). I like to visualise the water moving down my body and spreading energy and vitality to all my cells.
4) Do something just for you
Before you get on the phone and start answering your emails or plotting out your mental to-do list for the day ahead do something FOR YOU.
This is an important shift as instead of getting up and dreading the day ahead and everything you have to get done and wondering how you will possibly finish it all, you are giving yourself something to look forward to instead. You are starting the day with an act of SELF LOVE.
What that looks like is up to you. I have a little self-love routine that varies depending on how much time I have. On any given day it can include meditation, yoga, journaling, affirmations and gratitude.
It started off feeling like too much of a luxury and I would try and shorten it but when I saw the difference in my mindset and results it became a non-negotiable.
The minimum I commit to is something for the body (exercise and getting it moving) and something for the mind (affirmations) and something for the soul (gratitude). I have long and short versions for these so can be flexible. Or on busy days I will combine e.g. go for a walk and do my gratitude mentally.
BONUS TIP:
a) You know best what you need. Everyone's routines, responsibilities and body clocks are different. I know many entrepreneurs who swear by getting up at 5.00 a.m. for their morning routine. This doesn't work for me. I like to have a little bit of an evening (and not be in bed for 8.00 a.m.!) or be up too early. It's about striking a balance between being rested and what works for you and your lifestyle.
For example, the mamas in the group, you might have kids to get ready for school the next day or the little one that is still waking up through the night (btw if no one told you-you're doing an amazing job) so you may want to do a shorter more expedited routine. Bottom line, do what fits for you. Start in small increments to set yourself up for success and commit to changing things bit by bit. It takes 30 days to form a new habit so decide what you want to incorporate and then do it daily until it becomes a habit.

I'm guessing you have big dreams and goals and know you want to do amazing things with your life but right now you just don't know how to make it happen.
Maybe this was the year you hoped to leave the corporate world behind and create the life and business on your terms but it just hasn't happened?
When we are truly honest there is only one thing that is stopping us from having the life and business we desire.
OURSELVES.
We fear failure, we fear not making enough, we fear criticism, we fear investing and not making the money back, we fear not making the impact we desire.
And as a result, we delay our dreams. We put them on "someday isle". Even though we know that someday doesn't exist.

I'm super passionate about helping women create a life and business on their own terms because for so long, I took the safe, overly travelled route and did what others did.
I spent year after year commuting to a job that didn't fulfil me and sat at my desk year after year in this soul soul-sucking environment. Every day like groundhog day. Because that was all I knew.
Working in corporate recruitment was soul sucking, draining and exhausting but I lacked the courage and the vision to do anything about it, I was so stuck for so long.
I wanted to be my own boss, make an impact and do work i loved but I just couldn't envision it for myself.

Once I opened myself up to the opportunities, realised that what I wanted was possible for me, took bold decisions to make it happen things changed.
I got clear on my mission and message, on my ideal client and created packages that served them that was when things started to shift big time.
I invested in upleveling my mindset, my systems and did the work DAILY.
No excuses.
I continued to add to my learnings. Studying social media, copywriting and implementing the right systems and structures to create automation in my business and building a profitable business.
Sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone and do what others won't do so that you can have what others don't have.
Freedom, flexibility and fulfilment.
If you are still stuck, here are 3 quick tips to help you get out of your own way.
1. Master Your Mindset
Fundamentally having the right mindset is crucial to your success. I'm sure you've heard the famous quote "whether you think you can or think you can't you're right and this is so true".
This means utmost faith in your ability but also shifting the scarcity mindset (there is so much competition, there is not enough money, who will pay me) to an abundance mindset (the right clients are out there for me, there is so much wealth and abundance in the world, people will pay when the product adds value).
Focus on adding value to your ideal clients. Let them know that you are there for them and keep showing up. Your ideal clients want to know that you will be there for them when they are ready to buy.

Meditate daily. This is one of my favourite daily meditations for abundance
Show up consistently: I love my clients, I love the work I do and I love helping and adding value to the women who are stuck where I was.
I can't NOT do this work. Allow your passion to ooze out of every pore. Your audience will sense it.
2. Get to the bottom of your excuses.
We can make excuses all day long as to why something won't work for us. These excuses are really our fears and limiting beliefs getting into action trying to protect us from failure and keep us safe.
Whilst sometimes fear can serve us, when it comes to our business it's often misplaced. The only thing it does is keeps us stuck and playing small.
The next time you find yourself making excuses, identify where it is coming from. Ask yourself "what's really going on here"?. Is the excuse really well founded (most of the time this is a no) and then take action ANYWAY.
Nothing great ever came from listening to excuses. The fact that you are here and reading this means that you are meant to create a life of a richer and bolder kind. Step into the person who goes after THAT not the woman who makes excuses.
JOURNALING PROMPT: IF I WAS NOT ALLOWING FEAR OF FAILURE AND JUDGEMENT STOP ME FROM GOING AFTER MY DESIRES, WHAT WOULD I BE DOING NOW?
And then take those steps.
3. Make it Happen
Building a business may feel scary and tough and we may not achieve the success we want overnight but if you don't take action you will NEVER get to where you want to be.
It is possible for you create a business that you love, doing work that lights you up, helping incredible women and being of SERVICE. And it's possible sooner than you might think.
I know this because this is what I've created for myself.
Despite initially pursuing 2 business ideas that weren't right for me, I found my passion and purpose. That would never have happened if I had been too scared to do ANYTHING.
I took relentless focused action, invested in learning, took action and had the courage to pivot so that I could create my thing.
I was determined to make it work and it did.
This is what happens when you are relentless in the pursuit of the life you desire.

I’ve felt a huge energetic shift happening over the last few weeks. Feeling as though more and more great things are coming and I’ve had the urge to get ready and prepare for those when they come.
It’s not the first time I’ve done this.
The truth is every uplevel requires a willingness to open up the way for new and better things to come into your life. I like to think of it as paving the way for great things to happen.
If you want to create your dream life and business but are not making the progress you want, it all starts with the preparation and showing the Universe/God that you are ready. Prepare the energetic space, make your dream life a non-negotiable and act as if what you want is coming to you WITHOUT QUESTION
By doing this, you are setting a powerful intention.
If you are determined to end the last half of 2018 with your dream business a reality then doing these simple preparation steps will help you pave the way for your next level….
1. Clean out the Clutter
Do a brain dump of all the admin tasks you need to do and commit to getting them done. Tick off any self care items such as doctors, dentists appointments. Clear anything in your physical environment that doesn't match the woman you want to become. Clear the mental and emotional clutter too. I’m talking any negativity from the past, any business ideas that didn’t work for you, forgiving anyone who wronged you. When you are creating a life on your terms you don’t want any of this "stuff" standing in your way. Identify what doesn’t serve you and let it go with grace.
2. Shift the old negative thought patterns and create an abundance mindset
From now on, you want to have an empowering high vibe, mindset that is going to help you make things happen. Shift any negative thoughts and the scarcity mindset and instead put in place an "anything is possible" mindset. Create a powerful morning mindset routine that will help you with this. Add in the tools that work for you and that you enjoy to personalise the routine into one that energises you and propels you forward. I love meditation, journaling and affirmations all of which have made a huge difference to my mindset.
3. Make it Happen
Ask yourself better questions to get better results. If you are thinking of all the ways something won’t work, then you’ll talk yourself out of doing anything every single time. Instead, ask yourself "HOW can I make this happen." This gets your mind into solution mode and it starts looking for ways to bring your desires to you. Act as if what you want has NO CHOICE but to come to you. One of my amazing new clients this week, booked her Mindset Intensive in the diary as her statement of intent even when she had so many things up in the air which she could have used as an excuse. She MADE it happen.
This doesn’t have to take weeks or months. You don’t have to put your dreams on hold because your garage is not fully emptied. You can make changes from the minute you decide to. Everything else is backing it up, making you stronger, increasing the pull and the speed.

3 Steps to Change Your Money Mindset to Start Attracting Your Ideal Customers and Charging Your Worth
Today I want to talk about something that can be a very loaded subject for many - MONEY!
It's a subject that many people tiptoe around, feel uncomfortable discussing and crazily some feel bad about charging especially those in the "helping" professions where many ladies feel bad about charging for their services because they are helping someone.
I've had my own money stories to deal with too.
There was not much money around in my family when I was growing up and I grew up hearing stories from my mum around how poor her family were growing up. (My grandfather passed away when my mum was young and my grandmother had to bring up 7 children on her own in a society where there were ZERO work opportunities for women - she literally had to rely on handouts and charity from others).
I was bought up to believe "money doesn't grow on trees", "it takes hard work to make money" alongside other beliefs around money such as "money is the root of evil".
I also created some money stories of my own after a few money dramas in my 20s.
We are bought up to believe things about money from a young age. These thoughts around money stick with us and so often keep us stuck and in fear of failure.
My money dramas stopped me from spending money on my coaching business initially and hiring a coach felt like such a huge deal and like such a huge amount of money.
I kept comparing the sum to how long it would take me to earn that in my corporate career and being afraid to "lose" the money (seeing it as an expense rather than an INVESTMENT)
It meant I was in my own way at the beginning longer than I needed to be.
What about you? What do you believe about money? Where did these beliefs come from?
Write down YOUR money stories. Ask yourself where did this belief come from?
Do you really believe it to be true?
Try to question your views and beliefs around money as much as possible. You don't have to believe anything that you were told. You can write your own story
I often work with clients who have money stories of their own. Maybe they had similar beliefs drummed into them when they were younger or guilt around previous bad money decisions, debt etc. They have this massive amount of guilt which often keeps them stuck and unable to pursue their passion.
The issue with this is that this guilt then has a knock-on effect on their confidence, self-belief, self-worth and their emotions.
They hold themselves back, self-sabotage, hide in their businesses and become down and depressed about their situation.
The way I see money now has totally transformed.
I no longer see it as something that is scarce, evil or any of the previous labels I gave it.
When I first started my business I would frequently attract potential clients who would say "I would love to but I can't afford it" because my own financial frequency was so off-kilter. I was literally attracting those with my own beliefs to me. I was a client repellent.
It's very difficult to attract clients when your vibration is around lack and low self-worth yourself.
Now I believe "money is energy and energy is currency, it is neither good nor bad, it flows to me from many sources".
Once we start believing in abundance and shifting our vibration around money, it's amazing how things start to flow.
If you have a negative story around money and want to shift your money mindset try these 3 tips
1) Know Your Finances
So many women bury their head in the sand when it comes to their finances and have no idea on exactly what their financial situation is. The problem when you do this you are effectively saying that you don't trust yourself with money.
Start becoming intimately aware of your income/expenditure. Take control of any debt and make a plan to pay it back. Get creative on new ways to add extra income. You will be surprised with what you can achieve when you get proactive with your finances.
Change your talk around money instead of always saying "i can't afford it" or "it's too expensive" when it comes to something you desire instead ask "how can I make it happen?" I did this when I worked with my last coach for a 5 figure investment. I didn't have the money but I wasn't about to let that stop me. I got creative and put the money on my credit card and got proactive and determined about paying that off.
Where can you be creative to make things happen for you?
2) Commit to elevating your Wealth Consciousness daily
Our money stories are often rooted from many years ago often from our childhoods and then these beliefs are cemented further with each passing year. When we start questioning and re-programing, we have to do this consistently to avoid falling back into old thought patterns.
Just as we didn't arrive with these stories overnight, they may not disappear overnight but shifting your money mindset is so important if you want to attract abundance into your life.
Start reading wealth consciousness books daily and actively working on re-programing your beliefs around money.

3) Shift your thought patterns and words
Start to pay attention to your thoughts and words around money. What do you believe about money today? What do you believe about people who have money (for example if you are routinely judgemental and negative towards wealthy people you in effect repel wealth for yourself).
You cannot become what you despise.
Shift your thoughts patterns to ones that support your new view that you are worthy of wealth and all the things you desire.
In short, whatever negative stories and beliefs you currently have around money and wealth can and should be questioned and rewritten. You are worthy of abundance, deserve to be paid well for your gifts and have everything you desire.

Your life changes as you change your inner beliefs.
Don't believe you can do anything outside the confines of your 9-5? You'll continue to stay stuck.
Don't believe that you're worthy of being paid your worth? You'll continue to attract the clients who ask for discounts and don't pay on time.
Don't believe that your face fits or that you have the right look for an online business? You'll continue to hide away.
Don't believe you deserve to make money doing what you love? you'll self-sabotage, fritter away money and succumb to shiny object syndrome.
Everything in your life is a reflection of your inner beliefs. Your limiting beliefs are hiding in those areas where you don't have the results you want.
So to change the output, change the beliefs.
1) Identify the areas where the results are less than desirable, lower than your potential or inconsistent with who you are.
2) Identify the thoughts and beliefs you have about yourself in that area and write them down. Look them in the eye. Consider where that belief came from. Consider if it's true. Does it stand up to scrutiny? Acknowledge it for what it is. A belief. Not an irrevocable truth.
3) Create a new empowering belief to replace the old one that feels aligned with what you want and who you REALLY are.
4) Repeat for the next belief.

Maybe you’re ready to work on your passion project or start your own business but struggling to make the breakthrough and actually take the leap. In t his post I share how you can break through the monotony of the 9-5 and make your business happen.

I was thinking back today to when I was in my 9-5 and how stuck I felt. For a long while, I didn't do anything about it. I was so entrenched in my routine.
I got the same train every morning.
I walked the same route.
I got to work at the same time.
I took my lunch at the same time everyday (always preferred the 1.00p.m. slot).
I took either one of 2 train options home each day.
There was so little variety and looking back this routine contributed to me staying stuck. Our habits are what shape us whether they are good or bad ones.
It was only when I broke free from the routine that things shifted.
It all started when I did a little evening course for a couple of hours one night a week. That little change shifted so much. It opened up my thinking in new ways and showed me what else was possible.
This little shift in my routine put me on a new path even though it seemed like such a minimal step at the time, it had a disruptive effect on my thinking and really shook things up.
I then started incorporating other little changes into the routine when I realised how impactful it was.
So, if you are where I was, here are a couple of suggestions to help you break free from and shift out of the routine.
1) Do somthing fun out of hours.
Is there a course you can take or a hobby you've always wanted to pursue? These are great for shifting your routine and your perspective and the great thing is you can start with a fairly small commitment. My course was only 2 hours a week on a Wednesday for 10 weeks.
2) Change up your daily routine.
Make some sort of change in what you do each day, walk a different way to work, take a different lunch slot (gasp!), rearrange your work environment. These little changes will help stimulate your creativity that has been dulled by the 9-5.
3) Maximise your time.
Use the downtime you have in the day to take small steps towards your business. Learn a marketing platform in your lunch hour, listen to a podcast on the train. Start getting into the mindset of being a CEO and out of the employee mindset. When you're ready talk to a coach to help you take decisive action towards your business.
The great thing is it doesn't always have to be something major that has a big impact, these small insignificant seeming changes can have a far-reaching effect and be the catalyst for bigger changes.
Remember it's often the smallest changes that lead to the biggest results but if you do nothing - nothing changes.

When you’re an entrepreneur starting a business, self-care and relaxation are probably the furthest things from your mind.
It’s not that you don’t care about your health. You know you shouldn’t be staying up until the early hours working on those projects, trying to survive on takeaways, drinking too much coffee, and neglecting everything else in your life.
But finding time for self-care feels impossible.
There just isn’t time. You have far too much going on. You’re not willing to sacrifice your business just so you feel more rested.
But did you know that the opposite is true?
Self-care is actually one of the most important aspects of becoming an entrepreneur, and will allow you to feel energetic, motivated, and focused even when life is hectic and overwhelming. Here’s more on why it’s so important to slow down.
1. You’ll become more productive
We tend to think that if we keep working hard, pushing ourselves through our exhaustion, and staying busy all the time then we’ll knock more items of that ‘to do’ list. But this just isn’t true.
By slowing down, taking regular breaks, and scheduling time to rest, you’ll give your mind, body, and spirit a well-deserved rest. You’ll better process any challenges you’re facing, you’ll recharge your batteries and you’ll return to your desk feeling energized, focused, and much more productive.
2. You’ll feel less stressed
Prioritizing self-care will also help you feel much less irritated, exhausted, overwhelmed and stressed as you work to grow your business.
Because let’s face it- being an entrepreneur can be pretty stressful. You spend your day problem solving, working long hours, worrying about making ends meet and pouring your heart and soul into your venture.
If you allow this stress to get the better of you, not only will you struggle to make it through the day, but you won’t be in a place to give the best of yourself to your business either. Self-care matters.
3. You’ll be able to think more clearly and let your creative juices flow
Have you ever noticed how flashes of inspiration or your most creative business ideas often come appear when you’re busy doing something else, like taking a shower or hitting the treadmill at the gym?
This is because when you’re relaxed and disconnected from work, you have enough mental space to allow your mind to wander and that creative magic can start to flow.
You’ll have the mental space to think more clearly, problem-solve your business challenges with ease, and it will be much easier to make your business a success.
4. Your health will thank you
The stress and pressure of running a business can really take its toll on your health if you don’t take your foot off the accelerator and take care of yourself.
Otherwise, you’ll struggle to have enough energy to launch your best business ideas, your long-term health issues will flare up, your blood pressure will rise, you’ll start getting struck down with every cold or virus that’s going around, and you’ll find yourself edging closer to something that spells disaster for many businesses.
Burnout.
That’s why it’s essential to dedicate enough time in your day to self-care.
Schedule short breaks through the day such as getting up from your desk, popping to the loo, doing a few stretches, making yourself a cuppa, or even going for a breath of fresh air.
Also, find time for longer breaks and holidays away from your desk so you can really disconnect and recharge your batteries.
Finally, find time in your day for simple self-care practices such as getting enough sleep, eating well, staying hydrated, practicing meditation or yoga, taking breaks, and getting enough fresh air.
Remember, you are your greatest business asset. Make self-care your priority!
